  • Leadership:

    Cal Sheehy has a proven record for leadership in his community, as a volunteer, and in business. The City Council is regularly tackling issues that will impact the residents of Lake Havasu City. Cal Sheehy can work through all sides of an issue. This allows him to make an educated and informed decision that best protects the interest of Lake Havasu City residents, while achieving the desired outcomes for our community. Cal Sheehy is solution oriented. Cal Sheehy’s leadership skills will continue to be an asset in his role as Mayor and he will find solutions that work best for our community.

    Vision 20/20:

    Cal Sheehy was a member of the Vision 20/20 Team and worked collaboratively with community members to draft a citizen led economic revitalization plan. The award winning plan is known as Vision 20/20 and is comprised of 5 pillars of economic opportunity and change. The pillars; Economic Development & Job Creation, Education & Talent Supply, Tourism & Place Development, Water, and Community Engagement have worked together to create a comprehensive plan of action that is being implemented today. Vice Mayor Sheehy will continue to support the implementation of Vision 20/20 as Mayor of Lake Havasu City.

    Budget:

    Vice Mayor Sheehy is fiscally conservative and has a proven track record of approving conservative budgets while still building parks that have been championed by residents of Lake Havasu City. He understands the tax revenues generated to operate City government are generated by the people and will continue to act as a good steward of tax payer monies. Cal Sheehy’s experience as a City Council Member combined with his business background and education give him the knowledge and ability to manage large budgets and revenues. Smart financial practices will allow our community to embrace and foster managed growth.

    Growth:

    Our region is once again experiencing interest for development and growth. Lake Havasu City will experience growth and we will need to manage it responsibly. We need to protect our heritage, culture, and quality of life, while enhancing and embracing the opportunities for diversification of our economy and creating jobs.

    Jobs:

    Cal Sheehy believes that all Lake Havasu City residents should have access to quality jobs that offer livable wages. As Mayor, Cal Sheehy will ensure that local decisions are made in the best interest of job creation and seize opportunities to grow our economic base. Cal Sheehy believes that tourism is an important and driving force in our economy, but also knows that we must diversify our economy. A diversified economy will create more jobs and assist in stabilizing changes in market conditions.

    Prop. 409:

    Voters will be asked at the primary election on August 28, 2018 to support a ballot initiative, Prop. 409, to increase the permanent budget base from its current 1979/80 budget year calculation to a base that is more in line with the services that citizens of Lake Havasu City want. Cal Sheehy fully supports this initiative and will be voting ‘Yes’ on the permanent base adjustment. Vice Mayor Sheehy believes that local control is important and government closest to the people is the most effective.
